VMQ/Silicone rubber is an elastomer composed of silicone—itself a polymer—containing silicon together with carbon, hydrogen, oxygen Silicone rubber offers good resistance to extreme temperatures, being able to operate normally from −55 °C to +232 °C. At the extreme temperatures, the tensile strength, elongation, tear strength and compression set can be far superior to conventional rubbers.
Silicone is resistant to hot air, ozone, UV radiation, engine and transmission oils, animal and vegetable fats and oils, and brake fluids. VMQ also has low resistance to mineral oils. Silicone can be compounded to be electrically resistant, conductive, or flame retardant. Compared to organic rubbers, however, silicone rubber has a very low tensile strength. For this reason, care is needed in designing products to withstand even low imposed loads. The material is also very sensitive to fatigue from cyclic loading.
Changzhou Meridian produce the Commercial grade silicone rubber sheeting, the typical technical specification are as follows:
|TEARING STRENGTH (KN/m)
|High Tearing Silicone Rubber
|Super Tearing Silicone Rubber
Over 10mm thickness-Plates : 2500mm x 1000-2000 mm
Information of a technical nature is based on laboratory tests which either Meridian conducts or sends to an independent laboratory for testing for determination of uses as requested in writing by customer. Meridian believes these to be reliable. However, Meridian has no control over the application of the material to, or part of, the final product and therefore, Meridian makes no express or implied warranty of result, fitness or merchantability. The customer should determine reliability for the end use or particular application.
